Shifting Gears
The year of the snake doesn't mess around
The Chinese zodiac says that the year of the snake is one of transformation and growth, and they were not kidding. 2025 has slammed into me with the force of an 18-wheeler flying down the side of a mountain with no brakes. As unbelievable as it may sound, the impact wasn’t fatal.
Instead, I found myself shedding parts of my life that no longer served me. Some flew off of me at high velocity, never to be seen again. Other pieces crumpled into new shapes that fit better than I had expected. The entire experience has made me look closer than ever before at who I am and what I want. I found new answers to old questions and reawakened facets of me that had been asleep for way too long.
Yes, I know that a lot of this is vague in ways that some folks might find frustrating, but it’s intentional because this new substack is not a confessional diary. This is a new clean space for my creative work, uncluttered by old ideas or monikers. Somewhere I can allow myself to be a whole person.
I’m going to share from across the entire spectrum of me. You’re gonna see photography and writing rubbing elbows with queer topics and personal essays. The good will be shared along with the bad because you shouldn’t have to curate your own life.
This feels like a fresh start to match the all the other change going on in my world and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. Goes to show that it’s never too late to take a new path.
